Yahoo has announced that it will be discontinuing its legacy Messenger, in favour of a newer improved version. By August 5 this year, you will have to have downloaded the newest version if you want to continue using their services.
“We intend to continue our focused efforts on the new Messenger, with a goal of delivering the best experience to our users.” wrote Yahoo in their blog. The changes in the new Messenger will affect Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. It now includes improved group chats, the option of ‘liking’ messages sent or received, the ability to share photos faster and an option to chat directly from his/her Yahoo mailbox.
Yahoo has asked users to update to the new Messenger by August 5, as they will not be able to access their chats after that. “We intend to continue our focused efforts on the new Messenger, with a goal of delivering the best experience to our users,” the blogpost says.
